The Changing of the Seasons

I hear the sounds of the geese out my writing room window.

They are flying overhead , a sure sign that Fall is on it’s way and soon winter will follow.

It’s Autumn on the calendar but the temperatures say summer for sure.

I look out to see my summer deep, pink petunias still smiling at me in full bloom. She is so pretty.

Her basket swaying in the cool evening breeze.

I don’t know what I will do with her once the cold temps arrive, she is much too beautiful to throw in a compost heap.

She has brought me so much joy.

I am sure she will let me know where she wants to go.

The bright colors of summer are fading into the warm gold, rust and purple tones of Autumn.

The winter preparations for the roses are beginning this week with mulching, trimming, typing them up to ensure they aren’t vulnerable to breakage.

And Spring bulbs will be planted. A sure sign of Hope.

A Gardeners way of saying to the world, even in the darkness of winter, Spring always comes.
